Cantina Tre Secoli was born from the union between two great Piedmontese wine cooperatives:
Cantina Sociale di Mombaruzzo, built in 1887 as the first wine association of Piedmont, and the Cantina Sociale di Ricaldone, with 60 years of history
The numbers behind this new reality are important:
- more than 450 member vine cultivators
- over 1200 hectares of vineyards of which 440 planted with moscato vines, 340 with barbera vines and 160 dedicated to brachetto vines making Cantina Tre Secoli the first processor of grapes in the Piedmont region
- The Cellar has a capacity of over 180,000 hectoliters
Well armed thanks to its structure the Cantina Tre Secoli has been accredited as a major Piedmontese wine producer of prestigious wines all highly important for the Italian wine scene as such as Moscato d'Asti, Brachetto d'Acqui and Barbera d'Asti. All the wines have been designated as 'controlled and guaranteed origin (DOCG) the highest and most rigorous indication of Italian origin.
Speaking of denomination, it is to be emphasized that 90% of the production of Tre Secoli are DOC and DOCG wines. This not only quantifies the production but also shows how investment in the vineyard and winery have always been geared towards improving the quality, based on intensive and careful work in the vineyards, a careful selection of the best grapes and the ability to make wine traditionally at the same time putting into practice the most modern winemaking techniques to create timeless wines.
In detail, the DOCG wines are: Moscato d'Asti, Brachetto d'Acqui, Barbera d'Asti defined in various types: from young and fresh Barbera vintage, Barbera from organic Larame grapes, the Superior wines aged in wood and with the cru Nizza wine, an ultimate expression of Barbera grapes.
